Course aim
The 1970 abrasive wheels regulations have been replaced by PUWER 1998 for the safe handling, storing, mounting and use of grinding wheels. This course will address the regulation requirements under PUWER 1998 which afect the use and storage off grinders and abrasive wheels.
Who should attend?
PUWER 1998 states that all staff that use abrasive wheels must be properly trained.
Course content
- A practical training course which can be held at our facility or on site on the safe use of grinding wheels and cutting discs
- Review the regulations pertaining to PUWER 1998
- The correct wheel storage
- Correct selection of wheel size, material type and speed range
- Fault recognition
- Correct Mounting
- Truing and dressing
- Hazard identification and risk assessment
- PPE
- Written test and a practical assessment
- Candidates will receive a certificate of attendance
